Bat and Moon Sterling Silver Necklace

Austin, Texas is known as "Bat City" as it is home to the world's largest urban bat colony, estimated at 1.5 million bats. From mid-March to early-November, people gather at the Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin to watch the colony of Mexican Free-tailed bats come out to feed after the sun sets. It is a maternity colony, and the female bats raise an estimated 750,000 pups each year at the bridge.

In recognition of these silent and amazing bug eaters, this hand-cut pendant represents a bat flying across a full moon. The pendant is 1" in length and width and it is attached to an 18" sterling silver necklace.
